  • Verify TCP/IP - "Ping Test"

    TCP/IP - "Ping Test"

Make sure to reboot all computers after you have configured TCP/IP. To verify your TCP/IP:
Click on Start > Programs > MS-DOS Prompt, at the DOS prompt, type the following:

    On the Server Computer, type:

    1. ping 192.168.0.1
    2. ping 192.168.0.2
    3. ping 216.136.165.157 while connected to the Internet
    4. ping www.sohoware.com

    On the Client Computer, type:

    1. ping 192.168.0.2
    2. ping 192.168.0.1

You should get 4 "REPLY" with proper "TTL=xxx" at the end of each reply. This means your ping was successful. All computers MUST pass these ping tests before continuing. If you are sucessfully passed all the Ping Tests, then use your SyGate 2.0 diskette and install SyGate on the SERVER computer ONLY.

  • Installing SyGate 2.0

After reboot, open SyGate Manager, click on the Status tab. Verify that the "Engine status" is "Running, online"

  • Test SyGate 2.0

With your SyGate Manager running and your Internet connection, perform the following Ping Test:

    On the Server computer, type:
    1. ping 192.168.0.2
    2. ping 216.136.165.157
    3. ping www.sohoware.com

    On the Client computer, type:

    1. ping 192.168.0.1
    2. ping 216.136.165.157
    3. ping www.sohoware.com

If you pass this second Ping test, your computers have properly setup to share the Internet. Please make sure that your Client computers are connected through LAN connection, no "Proxy Server," and do not use "Automatic Detect Setting".
