The SOHOware Outdoor Bridge solution links two or more separate networks into one expanded LAN, and is designed to be located outdoors as supports business WLAN installations. The Outdoor Bridge can be configured for point to point, or point to multi-point network links. Operating at 2.4 GHz, the Bridge delivers transmission rates at up to 11 Mbps, eliminating the need to install expensive leased line or fiber-optic cable to link corporate networks

Wireless features include IEEE 802.11b compliance, WEP security and superior RF design to maximize reception performance. The Outdoor Bridge is available independently, or as part of a turnkey installation kit complete with high gain antenna. Both models are remotely manageable with SOHOware’s IWMS network management software for installing, configuring and monitoring the wireless LAN devices from a single network station.

Key Features and Benefits

IEEE 802.11b Wi-Fi Standard Compliant
Provides a high speed data link at up to 11 Mbps, and is fully interoperable with other Wi-Fi compliant Bridges and APs.

Superior Quality 11MBps Data Links
SOHOware’s advanced radio frequency technology and design deliver superior data transmission performance

. Enhanced RF receiver sensitivity improves link quality

.
Outstanding range performance with signal stability possible out to 12 miles*

Point to Point or Point to Multi-Point Networks
Eliminates the need for installed cable connections between physical locations to unify business networks. Supports point to point bridging or point to multi-point star networks. The Bridge can also be located as a mid-point repeater between two bridges to bypass a building or geographic obstacle.

Remote Management
Manageable using SOHOware IWMS software that allows administrators to access the Bridge from anywhere on the network, with business level features for installing, configuring and monitoring the outdoor wireless installation.

IWMS Features - Comprehensive Windows based Tools:
.
Robust discovery mechanism
- Auto IP address assignment - enables the Outdoor Bridge to self-assign a new IP address in the event of a DHCP interruption
. Bridge discovery - automatically locates and identifies SOHOware wireless devices, including Outdoor Bridges
. Protocol filtering: preserves bandwidth and increases security by preventing the bridge from transmitting specified protocols across the wireless link.
. On-line firmware upgradeability: allows the bridge’s firmware to be upgraded via IWMS from an administrative station without having to physically access the device.
. Trap server: with auto-notification, network administrators can automatically monitor operating conditions and be alerted to network activity for preventive action to maximize network uptime.
. DHCP client support: automatically obtains a new IP address from a DHCP server
. Antenna alignment: presents a visual utility for aiding in antenna aligning that eases the installation process when positioning directional antennas
. Bulk configuration: provides scalable management by simplifying the propagation of configuration settings to multiple bridge devices simultaneously

Multi-level Security

  • WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy): 64- and 128-bit WEP encryption for secure wireless LAN data transmissions.
  • SNMP access control: SNMP authentication prevents unauthorized access to configuration settings

Antenna Alignment Monitoring
Manually aligning antennas for maximum performance can be difficult when installing or adjusting their positions for bridge-to-bridge links, particularly when spanning longer distances. The IWMS antenna alignment utility provides visual graphic tools that speed up the antenna orientation process with real-time monitoring display.

All Weather Enclosure
The Bridge enclosure is specifically intended for exterior mounting conditions, in all seasons, with cabling and connectors designed for outdoor applications

Power over Ethernet
The Outdoor Bridge is PoE enabled and complies with 802.3af standards, eliminating the need for providing AC power at the point of installation. The WLB920 Bridge Kit includes a power injector and is installation ready for any remote location.

Outdoor Bridge Solution Kit
The WLB920 Bridge Kit is a complete turn-key package that includes the Outdoor Bridge device, high gain direction antenna, PoE injector and mounting accessories. Everything is included for a Bridge station. When paired with a second WLB920 Kit, data links up to 12 miles are achievable at 11 Mbps.

11Mbps Wireless Outdoor Bridge Application Scenarios

Point-to-point Mode

Bridges in point to point mode connect two networks in different locations through a single wireless link. This allows two separated networks or sites to become one seamless network for sharing resources, including a single high-speed connection to the Internet

Point-to-multipoint Mode

Bridges in point to multi-point mode connect three or more networks in scattered sites to become one seamless network. This allows numerous locations in a wide area to share resources, including a single high-speedconnection to the Internet
